A place of worship and an anchor for the community to grow
Hindu Samaj (Sheffield & District), registered charity number 517550, was established in 1982 and has served the Hindu community in Sheffield and the surrounding region for over four decades. The building we currently occupy was taken over in 2000, which has its roots in the resilient spirit of a community determined to rise from adversity. Our current mandir building, once a part of the school complex, has been a hub of education and community. Generations of students were nurtured here, instilling values of service and compassion.
Rooted in resilience and service, the centre continues to provide spiritual support, cultural celebration, and practical community value for families, students, and visitors across South Yorkshire (Barnsley, Derbyshire, Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield City). Its current site, once part of a school complex, carries a legacy of education and community life, which aligns strongly with the organisation’s mission today: to preserve Hindu faith and culture while also creating an open, welcoming space for learning, partnership, and social connection.
Since our inception, Mandir has evolved into a beacon of hope, offering assistance and solace to those in need. We embrace the rich history of this site, a story of resilience, transformation, and unwavering commitment. For all communications we use Sheffield Hindu Mandir and community centre.
Join us in our mission to create a better world by being a part of this journey. Together, we weave a tapestry of compassion, love, and service, upholding Mandir's values and making the world brighter, one act of kindness at a time.
Thank you for being a part of our story.
